Re: Clutc problems

After I replaced the clutch hose on my S, the clutch felt spongy. It worked, but didn't engage constistently on the same spot. I bled the system a couple of time with an assistant, but couldn't get all the air out. Then I got myself a one man type vacuum bleeder and that did the job. My clutch has b...

Re: Steering box refurbishing

Thanks for your advice, gentlemen. Play is definitely in the box itself, joints in the steering column seem tight. I'm not sure if they shimmed the box properly when putting it back together. Anyway, I've been driving classic cars all my life, having a little play in the steering isn't an issue. I'm...

Re: Steering box refurbishing

Follow up report: I finally found time to install the steering box and PAS pump back to my car. No more leaks! Pro Power Steering seem to have done well. However there is still some play in the box. They did inform me that they can't do anything about it so I didn't expect a new car feeling. Could s...

Re: Steering box refurbishing

Funny you should mention that. I considered Vintage Jag for my job and I would have used them if shipping to and from US wasn't so damn expensive. They are Jaguar specialists and seem to know their business. The one I used in UK was just a general steering shop. I haven't had time to fit the box bac...

No, he could only recommend the ones I mentioned in my first post. This one I found on Google.

Re: Steering box refurbishing

Ken doesn't do steering boxes, but I found a company that was willing to take the job:

We'll see how it goes.

Steering box refurbishing

I'm searching for a company that would refurbish my Burman steering box. So far I've had replies from ICS, Kiley-Clinton and Holman Engineering, all basically saying they don't want to touch Burman PAS boxes. I have also asked D & A Steering and Western Power Steering, but they have ignored my r...

Re: 3.4 S 1965 in Finland

Thanks for your nice comments. Yes, my Jag has been well looked after and wax oiled underneath. I believe it has been used in summertime only for most of its life. Although I have to say that the paint isn't quite as good as it looks in the pictures. But I like the patina and I'm keeping it as it is.
