Voltage stabilizer
I have taken out the voltage stabiliser at the back of the dash that feeds the fuel gauge and temperature gauge. Due to it being faulty. Whilst doing so the bolt holding the stabiliser sheered off. Will it be ok to earth the stabiliser from body or is there something I am missing. I will use double sided sticky tape to hold the stabiliser in place. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Voltage stabilizer
Keith can you supply a photo of the part where the bolt has sheared off. I have several spare metal backing plates for the dash if this is where the bolt has sheared. Also can you update your location in your information as I am offering you this plate from the UK but for all we know you might live in America or Australia.

Re: Voltage stabilizer
Hi Cass
I have attached 2 photos. One were the bolt snapped off and one were I intend to attach a wire from.

Re: Voltage stabilizer
Noted. Wiring it up to the other nut is not a problem. If you want a new metal backing plate so you can reinstall the original I do have a couple. They are easy to replace but fiddly as you have to take the whole centre dash out, disconnect all the wiring, remove all the dials and switches and then the wood comes off the front. If one of your intentions is to refurbish the wood then that would be a good time to replace the metal backing plate. Having said that if you go to that length to strip it down you would be able to perhaps grind off the broken bolt, solder a new one in place and use yours again. Attached are some photos of one of the plates I have. This one still has the stabiliser attached.

Re: Voltage stabilizer
Thanks for the heads up Cass. I didn’t want to go the route of removing all the gauges and wiring. Just awaiting the post bringing the new stabiliser and I will attach it the the plate the best I can and wire up to that bolt in photo.
Do you carry a lot of parts for the S Type ?. Don’t need anything at the moment but always handy to know.
Cheers
Keith

Re: Voltage stabilizer
Nice looking car Keith. Love the colour.
I have a lot of second hand parts I bought as a job lot. 23 boxes in fact. Lots of little bits rather than large parts but loads of them. I have a load of stuff on Ebay under the seller name of Cass3958 and loads more in the garage. If you need anything let me know.
