Snap ~ That is exactly the lead I have got to attach to my plug. Only difference is mine has one red wire & one black. Same SAE connectors to charger fly lead that can only be plugged one way to ensure correct polarity is maintained.

This seems to be an unrelated thread to Bonnet Hinge Modification. Always good to start a new thread if on a different topic. But having said that the plug shown in the next post by Glyn Ruck could run into trouble since it is not set up to be polarity specific, ie it can be plugged in either way since its design use was for a trouble light that was not polarity specific like most modern accessories. I use a permanently mounted battery maintainer under the hood in the vicinity of the battery. I has two leads with eyelets that attach to the battery terminals, one black (-) and one red (+). The charger connects to a standard (at least for the USA) wall plug extension cord, orange wire. There is a green light on the device that shows it is charging and a red light when it senses the battery fully charged and shuts down. That can take up to 12+ hours since the device only puts out a amp or two. I plug mine in if I have not used the car in a period, and unplug when the red light appears. I have one in my 3.8S, XJ6, and Austin 1300. Since it is permanently wired to the battery terminals there is no chance of a polarity issue. Photo shows the one in my XJ6 (XJ40).

No. Only plugs one way. 1 pin is thicker than the other. Can't be reverse plugged. Also smart charger auto detects polarity & won't charge incorrectly connected or do any damage ~ gives you a warning. Has LCD display that tells you exactly what is going on. Polarity confirm, 6 or 12V, Volts & Amps, Battery type (SLA, Lion) etc. Rate of charge, Winter charge, Car or Bike etc. Which of 8 auto modes the charger is in for charge & maintenance.

I still have my Accessory port on the inner wing fully intact with the plug but it is not connect to the wiring as I removed the voltage regulator last year when I converted to Negative earth. I keep meaning to run a couple of wires to it but will never need it it is just for show. I might also reposition the VR in place with some dummy wires but again just for show.

You can always wire up the accessory port for negative earth should you ever wish to use it.

Yes ~ I'm talking about the Lucas units Jaguar use (38604). They have one large pin & one small pin. Can't be reverse plugged. I'm not talking about Land Rovers, Healeys, MG's etc. Many of them had same size pin for both Pos & Neg.

This is the non Jaguar unit used by some others. Both pins same thickness.
