Sorry Your car is on the register but on the updated version David has rather than the year old version I have. It will be interesting to see what is on the new certificate as the prefix P is definitely for Power Steering but you say your car does not have PAS and does not look as though it has had it removed. Is your car still running Positive Earth with a generator or been converted to Negative Earth with an aftermarket alternator?
Sometimes because the pickup for the PAS System which comes off the back of the old generator when it is converted to an alternator the PAS is removed and a standard steering box fitted. Trying to get a drive for the PAS pump off an alternator up until fairly recently was a challenge but now several firms are selling a C42 generator housing with the insides converted to an alternator which has the original pick up for the PAS on the back.

I'll try this post again;

Thanks for the PS/Generator information. I checked my PS box and it is not set up for PS. I compared it to my RH parts car and your pictures its not close. I would post pictures of the generator and other stuff, but system boots me out when I try to post with attachments or picture, and the icons for this are not functioning. Received my Heritage Cert. I have a numbers matching car. Original color was Opalescent Golden Sand with Tan interior. I'll figure out how to post pictures later. Good news is I have a matching numbers car including the motor cyl head.

I know this is an older topic, but I have an XKE that jag heritage also tells me was sent as a CKD to South Africa. In my case all the numbers match on the data plate however the serial number decodes as a 1965 coupe though mine is a 1963 Convertible. Nothing looks out of place. Also my car is a LHD model

Hi and thanks for posting. CKD cars were as you say assembled in South Africa but we have little knowledge from here in the UK. Glyn Ruck was the man who possibly could have helped as he lived in Cape Town and his S Type was a CKD car but sadly Glyn is missing in action and we have not heard from him in several months after he reported he was not in good health. What I can say and Glyn used to emphasis this all the time, all the CKD S Types were 3.8s and RHD as South Africa is a country that drives on the correct (Left side) of the road. It is unlikely then that an E Type built as a CKD in South Africa would have originally been built as a LHD car. You do not give your chassis number but we know from the S Type register that a UK car VIN starts with P1B or 1B depending on whether PAS is fitted whereas a CKD car from SA starts with either an A or B as in A1B or B1B. The A prefix cars were built at CDA, East London (Today on that site is the Mercedes Benz plant). B prefix cars were built at Blackheath, Cape Town.
Sorry I cannot give you more information.
