P1B58945DN - LYD707E Restoration - pictures and comments

Post by LYD707E »

Hi to all,

Thanks for your kinf help once again.

I have taken some pictures of the car at the local garage.

Because I'm not sure about the forum rules about pictures, I have publish them on a new Facebook page. Please visit:

I would be grateful if you could tell me your views about them. Whether you think it's an "easy" or "too difficult" job, what would you do first, etc. or whatever you consider interesting or important.

Thanks.

Un salud,

Fernando.

Having looked at the photos it looks like the chassis parts needed arre crossmember, outriggers and crows feet. A very common repair on S Types and Mk2"s. The under grill is a minor job compared to the former. As the crossmember is a structural part of the chassis I suggest you get professional help on this.

Hola Nigel,

I have checked SNG Barratt's catalogue and they have the following parts available:

Front crossmember - Part number: 5137
Front crossmember closing panel - 4130
Front crossmember braces - 4128 (right) / 4129 (left)
Front crossmember valance - BD25969

Would it be better to buy new parts instead?

Regarding the outrigger, is it the same than the sill? Not sure about it. Sorry.

By "crows feet" do you mean the floor?

Sorry for these basic questions but I prefer to have it very clear.

Thanks.

Un saludo,

Fernando.
