Oh, and this was my car on its original springs in 1992. The moral of this photo is that you don't need to replace them, as I found out to my considerable time and cost!

Wow they are a lot lower at the back and I notice that the sills are parallel to the ground where as mine is slightly nose down!

I can see I am going to have to get the angle grinder on the rear springs.lol.

Having said that as a joke there is no adjustment in the rear ride height. The shocks and springs are a set height. I know two rear shocks and springs were changed about 17 years ago on the 14th of November 2001 ( the car has only done 5000 miles on them since). I put all new bushes in but then the photos you have shown here would have new bushes. You would expect an older car to sag a little but these are very low.

I presume that you can buy four adjustable Spax coilovers for the back of the right length and poundage and then adjust the height to where you want it to be?

Yes I am running 207/70/15s so a sidewall of 143.5 which is equivalent to a 185/80/15 with a 148 sidewall height. 3.5mm difference.

Yes, fair point. Though they may not be on their original springs, of course. . That said, when I was searching for original replacements, I came across several springs that were worn out, so you are right.

My car was on about 70,000 miles, in the 1992 pic.

That's the first time I have seen them on an S type, several MK 2's go to the Goodwood Revival with them on and I wondered how they would suit the S Type, I must admit they look the business. Pity about the cost of them though.

Just thought that I would add a picture of my baby, not long after she had new springs and poly bushes, you will see that she is quite high on the front , to me the back still looks a bit low

Your car looks beautiful, John. Really lovely in that colour.

I agree it looks a touch high at the front, which may well settle.

I also agree perhaps a touch low at the back, too. If a car is too low at the back, it's worth checking that the packing rings C23413 are fitted at the bottom of the rear springs. I think restorers often fail to put them back because the originals crumble to nothing when being removed. You can buy them new.
