I seem to be agreeing with everyone here but I do agree with you Nigel. My S Type had been worked on by a reputable Jaguar Garage called Flying Cat Engineering who in my opinion were a bunch of monkeys and thieves. Their work was not good and had to be redone in several places.I suppose thats why I take so many photos so I can show people the work that has been done. The Ford Anglia I am rebuilding had the same suggestions that the work had been done to a high standard when I bought it and the reason why it has taken so long to get going let alone finish is because it was not. Filler, thick underseal, plates welded over plates, Engine rebuild was a joke. I have lots of photos to show of the condition of the car once stripped. It seems we have come to the conclusion that if you want it done properly it is best done by yourself.

I see that my cost summary to date has caused a lot of discussion. Yes, when you do not have the knowledge and talent, you have to pay for it and suffer the countless delays. Next month will be three years. If everything goes well, Miss Kitty will be fantastic. The engine and transmission all worked well before the restoration....fingers crossed that these items will be OK since the car only has 31,826 original miles. I did have the distributor, carbs, and radiator rebuilt, which were not included in my previous post regarding costs. Tom, the final summary will be posted. I just wanted folks with no knowledge and talent to see what it truly costs to completely restore the S-Type here in the States.

Stay tuned and thanks.....

The way you are doing it, every nut, bolt and chrome piece off, engine and gearbox out, all the running gear off is the only way in my opinion to spray a car. Great job.
I saw a 1974 MGB GT V8 at a show last Sunday and the guy had colour changed the car to white and then hand painted the inside of the engine bay white with a brush without removing the engine. He had also hand painted all the brake pipes and electrical cables because it was too much hassle to move them out of the way to get behind them with the brush!!!!!!! It looked awful but instead of leaving the bonnet closed he had it open for people to see.
