Re: Throttle return springs
A big "thank you" to Glyn and Cass for your replies and supporting photos. I'm please to say I've now got the "Y" piece in the correct location, and both springs attached as per Jaguar's design. The third spring I mentioned is obviously an addition by a previous owner. The lower ...

Throttle return springs
Hi Folks, As usual I'm slightly confused, and hope someone out there can help! Firstly, how many throttle return springs should be fitted to the 3.8 litre engine? I appear to have 3, whereas the workshop manual (W.S.M.) shows only 2. As found, I have two springs attaching to the actual throttle shaf...

Re: Starting problem
Hi there,
I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I would be looking to replace the ignition coil. They are relatively inexpensive, so would be a good starting point (not meant to be a pun!) for eliminating items.
Good luck, Richard

More carburettor woe!
Hi Folks, As some may remember, my S type "journey" has to be fitted around my wife's illness, but recently I've been able to spend some time on my car. After a prolonged carburettor rebuild, I set about getting the engine running, and the carbs re-tuned. All was going well, I'd got a nice...

Re: S Type from the 70s
That's a lovely piece of history! Is it unusual for a Church to be demolished? I suppose nothing lasts forever.

Re: Front Valance
Does anyone in the U.K. have one they're prepared to sell ? I'm not that fussed that I'd buy a new one, but if one available at a suitable price, I'd be interested.
Thanks for looking, Richard

Re: Front Valance
Cass, Thank you for your photos regarding the front valance. Until I saw your pictures, I had not properly understood what the valance looked like, or where it went. As Glenn points out, your colour enhances the clarity of what goes where. My 1965 version does not have a front valance, and I'm not s...

Re: Front Subframe Brackets
I don't have them on my 1965 car, but could they be horn mounting brackets? Please do post the definitive answer .

Re: uk battery
Hi there, When I was searching for a battery, I wasn't too precious about it. Love you, I was still using the original Dynamo/ Power steering pump, and had changed to Negative earth . I went to a large Halfords, and searched for the highest rated battery that would safely fit the space. I selected a...
