here's one of many free image resizing online services and an example of a resized image. There are many online sites with many options to resize and edit images, all free to use.
https://fixpicture.org/
First image below is 2000 pixels X 1791 pixels ( 1.03 megabytes )
Second image is 1000 pixels X 895 pixels ( 366.27 kilobytes ( very little difference in resolution if any, but quite smaller in size )

I've got a suggestion on this to satisfy both high and low res photos. Why not use an online cloud storage site like Flickr to house the high res photos and upload to the forum a standard spec photo with a link to the cloud storage photo for those who require it, for example taken from my Flickr account::

good idea, then you can add a link to it.
Remember it is only for excessively large images, normal images in the 1 megabyte or less size range are not a problem.
Thanks Nigel for contributing suggestions instead of arguing about the rules.

The high res images are something like 12mb but I go up to 24mb with my SLR. If this size were posted on the forum my phone and tablet would fall over and crash. I access a lot of the forum on a 3g phone and it would be unusable.

Glyn, I am giving you the courtesy of a reply which I don't have to do:
Any argumentative posts against the rules comments will be deleted without explanation or warning. Please read the new post "RULES".
All you want to do is argue and argue ad infinitum, and it is filling the forum with nonsense. The forum is for S type information, not for your dislikes about this fiorum. Post about S type and your posts will not be deleted.
Also let me make something CLEAR: I do not MAKE THE RULES, Tom does.
If you have a problem with a rule, contact TOM THE ADMINISTRATOR.
