I am replacing the rubber on the front door ventilator and am in the process of taking out the ventilator window. There is a threaded post on the window which has 2 nuts, then a washer then a spring. After the spring is the bracket and then the index sleeve. The manual says to take out the pin in the sleeve which I drilled out. Is this sleeve supposed to slide off the threaded post after the pin is removed? Having trouble getting it off. I have used a punch and hammer and lubricant to help it come off but no luck getting it to move.

I think you have made a slight mistake here Mark. The pin you drilled out is a rolled spring pin which is punched out of the hole so it can be reused. It might be you have some burring in the hole where you drilled the pin out or you left some in and it is causing the drum to stick. Here is a photo of the make up of the post and you can see the rolled pin being punched out. I found once the roll pin was out a light tap and the drum slid down the shaft and off.

Thanks for the response. I tried punching out the rolled pin first although due to age and rust it disintegrated. At least now I know if I clean out the hold enough the drum should slide off.

I did finally get the assembly apart and then ordered new old part from Ebay to complete that part of the project. Replacing the rubber trim turned out to be more fun than expected and at times I wish I had 3 hands.
