Heater scuttle valve

Hi folks I’m wondering if anyone has had to replace the scuttle vacuum valve to open the fresh air flap. I have a very good vacuum supply to it and using a vacuum pump directly to the valve it won’t open. The diaphragm must be ruptured. Anybody had success repairing it or is there a suitable replacement. The part is obsolete. I’ve searched the web and all the usual suppliers. Cheers. John.

Just like the heater valve they are not only no longer available but they are also no repairable as they are a metal sealed container where the seal is a rolled metal lip. Impossible to undo without destroying the damn thing.

I might have a spare or two in my box of many things. Drop me a PM with your details and I will have a look for you. Can you update your location please as I am in the UK but I do not know where you are.

The exact factory replacement may not be available but I would think a good search at an auto parts supplier would turn up a suitable substitute that could be made to work. These devices are not uncommon in various cars over the years.

I believe an ignition distributor vacuum module might be adapted as a replacement, as I think you envisage.

If my memory is correct there were a number of industrial small air pressure chambers that would accept vacuum and do the job.

Not sure a distributor vacuum module would have enough travel but many cars used vacuum controls for climate controls systems that probably would work.
