I know there are some on the forum who are still in the process of building their cars and they will not be ready for the 1st of June but if anyone wants to come along on the day why not arrange to meet us at the Travelodge as suggested by Nigel and then you can accompany us in our S types in to the show.

Glad to have you on board. Are you going to meet us at the travelodge in your S Type?

I checked the place out today on the way up to spares day, lots of parking and a Mc D's to grab a cupper of you get three early. Just to forewarn anyone using the M1 there are 22 miles of roadworks before the M45 (northbound) with 50mph average speed cams, this will still be in place come June so make allowances time wise. Spares day was a waste of time BTW with very little on offer for our cars.

That's funny. I guess it depends what you're after and how long you're prepared to spend staring at rusty old bits. I came home with this little lot.

Not a bad haul. I was looking for a lower steering column necal (not auto or overdrive) but none found. I found a few upper sections but at the price of £45 I thought was over the top for something that should have been chucked in the trash.

Most of what I was looking for was for my XJ but only found one item on a long list, not even a set of chrome head nuts or a pair of exhaust manifold gaskets, the only ones I spotted were for display only and not for sale

The problem with spares day is that most of the big outfits have stopped bringing along the bins of parts and a doing collect or order service only. What stood out this time was the amount of empty stall spaces and the area taken up with cars for sale was inside the main hall that were previously taken up with stalls. All in all it was not worth a two hundred mile return trip.

Yes, all fair points. I'd say the number of stalls was fairly typical of the March event in recent years, though I agree the number has dropped from say five years ago. The cars for sale have been in the main hall for some years now. For me, it's only about 120 miles round trip, so worth the effort. The March 2018 event I attended netted me a new old stock heater valve, plus the air intake hose brackets, so that was well worth the trip!

Is that the air intake hose clamp you have bought their Orlando. I was looking through my boxes on Sunday for mine so I can fit my hose. Went through half of them and could not find it. In there somewhere as I never throw bits away so I will have to get the other boxes out now. I have found the old PAS pump and shield and will post pictures of that on the appropriate topic later.

Guys

Unless I am very much mistaken there is confusion on this thread.

On 1st June there are TWO separate 60 year celebrations taking place, BOTH within a few miles of each other and BOTH mentioned in this thread.

These meets are at Classic Motor Cars (CMC) at Bridgnorth, see the Morse car etc, etc

and JLR Classic Works at Ryton.

I have booked to attend the JLR event, although I presume it is possible to attend at both.

If I am correct in detecting some confusion, can attendee's say where they have booked?

Yes, it is. The one I had was broken and I had it welded up. I thought this one looked better and, for £3, it was worth having in my parts stash. On the same stand were two of these clamps and two of the bracket supporting the intake hose above dynamo, C23432!
