That's a lovely paint finish you have there Dave. Love the mirror finish, very smooth.
What is the paint colour and is it the original colour to the car?
I had the same problem as you for space and ended up using about six different workshops for all the work. At your stage I was lucky to have a large dry workshop to be able to get all the chrome on, interior in and make it water tight but as soon as I had completed this I lost the workshop and had to finish the car off on my driveway. Not ideal but the weather was kind to me and I did not have a lot to do.

Yes, that looks terrific, Dave. You must be very pleased with it. And I can see from the 'in progress' pix that they have taken real care over that. Congratulations.

Perhaps you could hire a marquee for a month or two.

Thanks Guys, I have about 85 photo's of the re-spray the main work of course was the preparation which took weeks then the black sealing coat followed by two grey primer then three grey undercoat all rubbed down each time before the top coat and finish. Only two small welding jobs required a small pin hole at the bottom under the centre of the rear screen rubber which used to blow air out under the rubber when closing the boot lid and a small pin hole under where the chrome finish panel goes behind the front bumper & grille. Both cut out and re-welded then finished off.
It is back to the original colour opalescent silver grey, in fact I had the boot well only re-sprayed as I knocked some dents out before hand leaving the rest original and apart from the shine on the new paint the colour is the same. The company that did the re-spray have since completed a 65 E type in the same colour as the owner like it better than his original gunmetal grey which needed a re-spraying also.
I must admit they have done a good job slightly over budget as they fitted all the door seals as all the doors came off at one stage plus the windscreen & back screen the rubbers & chrome. They use a specialist for the front & rear glass & chrome as that's all he does but has a 2/3 week waiting list but worth the wait. I am glad I have it back 21 weeks is far too long, but getting bumped all the time for more important customers with numerous expensive classic's is understandable I suppose but frustrating at the time. They did account for every hour of time and the various consumables etc but paint is expensive compared to when I did it 35 odd years ago.
