I sent a question to M&C Wilkinson Jaguar spare suppliers who confirmed from the pictures that the caliper mods are something That they sell and in turn made by Coopercraft. So the Jag is in the garage now having the discs replaced, so the info was passed on to them, So the mystery was not such a problem after all.

1B1257BW is now back and has replacement discs and pads, the disc number being C23484 and the pads are JLM9515 which are fitted to some later cars
While the car was having the work done I asked the garage to run an eye over the steering and suspension for me as I find the steering very vague. Any way when the car came back the garage agreed that the steering was quite vague but there was no real problem apart from some of the bushes being as he put it a bit soft. What he suggested was to have all bushes replaced with the upgraded poly bushes which in his opinion would transform the car, so any opinions would be welcome

Glad to hear you've got the brakes sorted out now John. As far as the bushes go I can recommend them, they do tighten up the suspension but can feel a bit hard after running with the standard rubber ones. I've had them fitted to my car for the last few years now,

Thanks Nigel
I know that the front suspension bushes are about £100 but did you replace yours yourself or through a garage if you did get a garage can you give me any idea of cost as it looks as if the front suspension cradle needs to come out complete.

I did it myself as once the suspension is dismantled they are easy to fit. You do need to strip it down though. Sorry but wouldn't have a clue as to what a garage would charge to do the job.

Forgot to say you don't need the drop the whole subframe just drop out the springs and remove the wishbone.

Thanks for the clarification regarding the sub frame, I will probably order some new poly bushes and get them replaced a bit later. I am still recovering from spending over £16k on the body restoration .
