Can you load a picture Joe so we can see your problem as once the bolt is out the Radius arm should just come off. I slight knock with a hammer should free the arm. Are both sides the same or is it just one side?

Rob.....I can't get the bolt out. You answered my question....the bolt does come out. I will work on it. Thought there might be a trick or a clip holding it in. Thanks....

If you have a look at this exploded diagram from the parts manual it shows that there is a bolt that runs through the radius arm in to the wishbone. https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/cata ... eels/#p=18 (Actually it shows the holes where the bolt should be but not the bolt itself.The bolt is about 2 1/2 long from memory. It runs through the hole at the top on the wishbone through the raduius arm and threads in to the wishbone. You can just see where the hole is in the wishbone at the bottom indicated by the yellow arrow at the bottom)
Once the bolt is free it should just slide out but only if you remove the bolt (no 48 on the diagram.) on the lower wishbone that holds the bottom of the shock absorbers in place as this tends to be in the way when it is on the car.

Yup....that is it. But the bolt is frozen. It will not move and it is recessed into the wishbone. I tried using a C-Clamp with a large socket on the top of the bolt so it could travel through the socket and it would not move. Sprayed with PB and soaking now. I may have to drill it out or try one end of a spring compressor. See photo.....

The photo of the bolt doesn't look the same as my car, on mine the recess has a larger diameter and I can get a socket on the bolt. Anyone have any idea if Jaguar changed this on later cars as mine is a very early example? You could try using two nuts locked together to turn the bolt to free it off.

Joe I have just been under my S type and had a look as my advice was being said from memory. Having seen your photos I had to check mine again and I have to revise what I have said. The nut on the end of that bolt which you have in the photo cannot be removed from the thread until the shock absorber has been removed as opposed to what I said about the bolt. Then the bolt through the radius arm cannot be removed until the bottom wishbone bolt is removed and the hub lifted out of the way. Again working on memory the bolt section is not threaded in to the wishbone but has a small hex head which is recessed into the back of the wishbone to stop it from turning when you do up the nut. It is recessed so the head of the bolt does not interfere with the movement of the lower wishbone and hub assembly. I seem to recall mine was tight and I had to put a lever bar between the head of the nut and the shock absorber post and lever it out. Looking at your photo though it does not appear to have a hex head showing so yours might have a splined head? That said I think you just need a bigger hammer as it needs to come out straight not rotated. If you have an old bolt of the same thread put this over the end of the bolt so you hit the nut not the bolt and don’t damage the thread and just give it a good bash but the shock absorber post might be in the way so do as I did and use the post as a lever point. This is a very specific bolt the way the head sits in the wishbone and as it is not listed on the parts diagram I think you might struggle to get a new one off the shelf so you do not want to be drilling it out either. Failing the big hammer take it to a garage and ask them to press it out on a bearing press.

Rob..thanks for the effort. It is appreciated. Yes, mine has a hex head. I have tried a hammer and c-clamp. Going to the shop today to get my "expert" to get them out. Not worried about damaging the bolts. The bolt is not shown in the parts diagram, but it is listed in the parts list. I placed my order to SNG this a.m. and included the bolts on the order just in case. After the bolts are out, the wishbones, radius arms, cage, and some misc items are headed to the media blaster and then onto paint. Thanks for all the help.

Got it.....took an air hammer with a punch. Just enough room to get the punch somewhat on top of the bolt and out they came. I can see why it did not come out easy. It appears that the metal portion of the bush rubbed against the bolt and created a ridgethat could not pass through the hole. The threads are worn down in one spot and not in another.
