E-Type Steering Wheel Retrofit

Post by YoungJagFan »

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Is it possible to fit an E-Type wooden steering wheel and boss in the 3.8 S? I've seen a few images of them fitted to the Coombs Mk2s and a 420, so I'm wondering if the column splines are the same. I've always loved the look of the OEM E-Type wheel and the checkerboard horn push :D

Several of the forum members have changed to a wooden steering wheel. I did so earlier this year and it is covered in this topic.

You just require the correct OEM Boss to fit a genuine E Type steering wheel.

Glyn,
Thank you so much for providing me with the correct boss model, I was beginning to think it wasn't possible to fit the E-Type wheel. I have an aftermarket Tourist Trophy wheel on it now (came with the car, the original wheel is long gone), but the horn push doesn't work and the wheel looks a bit tacky for the car (looks like it belongs in an MG or Triumph). The 16 inch diameter E-Type wheel will give me that GT feel, and will look like a dealer addition from the 1960's. Thank you my friend!
