4 position light switch

Post by Horse Power Junkie »

I've converted to a 4 pos switch when I refurbished the dashboard. I'm having problems connecting the right wires to the correct positions. can someone please make a photo or sketch how to connect the various wires? the electrical diagram seems to be correct, but the position of the connections is not clear to me.

the Red with Yellow stripe are the Fog/Driving light wires. All Jags are like that until at least the last 1992 Series 3 body XJ-12 rebadged "V12" after 1987.

I bought it with the screens in place, but I were able to buy the right fog lights on ebay. I have 4 , one burned thru, I'm planning to modify this one to take a halogen bulb.

yes, it looks like they came in 2 versions, one with replaceable bulbs, one with sealed beams. I have a pair with sealed beams from 1966, incredibly they still light up.

When I rebuilt my car four years ago it came with the driving lights but no seperate switch that I was aware of. I have the standard three position switch. The previous owners attempt at home DIY wiring for hazard lights and rear fog lights was all ripped out in the initial phase and I could have taken out the driving lights switch as well. When I put it all back together I rewired the driving lights in to the Hi beam circuit so when I switch from low to high beam the driving lights also light up.

How are they normally switched on if you do not have a four position switch?

I very rarely drive at night so don't get to use them often but they certainly improve night vision when they come on.

I have the original Lucas WFT6 sealed beams in place and have collected a couple of spares from the odd autojumble because as far as I know Lucas no longer make the WFT6 sealed beam. The size for the S Type is different to the ones used in the Mk2. I think the Mk2 had 5 inch spot/fogranger lights WFT5 which were fitted with a bulb and the S types are 5 1/2 inch WFT6 and were sealed beams.

I also have the original Lucas WFT6 sealed beams, but I'm planning to modify one to take a halogen bulb.

How do you intend to modify it to take the Halogen bulb?
