Love the fact the whole front end comes off so there is no precarious lifting it up above the front grill and bonnet slam panel like on the S Type.

I'm looking forward to that! Had enough of grafting on engines every day, just got to refit the rad, hoses and sort out the bonnet then fill with all the fluids.

I should title this one step forward two back, with all the fluids done and the battery finally charged time to crank it up.This was after the LR6 ignition relay packed up and needed pulling out and dismantling and resetting also no fuel getting through - solved with a bash of the pumps. Sitting in it turning the key resulted in a cloud of smoke rising out of the engine bay - starter motor burnt it's self out! Next problem remove it, totally impossible without removing the carbs to gain access. More fun and blood sheading tomorrow.

I got the starter motor off over the weekend and took to London Essex Auto Electric this morning they tested it while I waited and diagnosed the solenoid has shorted out. Picked it this afternoon done in three hours - super service from them. While I was in there they had two calls one from an E Type owner and an XJ owner both with charging problems for them to sort out. On the counter was a 1920's dynamo from an Aston Martin in for work.

That's an impressive turnaround, Nigel, and interesting clients, by the sound of it.
