What a nightmare. You really have had a bit of a year of it, haven't you, Nigel?

Nigel

Could you not tap the case oversize and make up stepped studs to match the oversize and fit nuts and washers?

Orlando - yes it's been a bit of a trial this year.

JCS - interesting solution, but I'm not doing the work and as I'm paying for it by the hour I have to weigh up how long it would take to do that against the cost of another casing as they are quite cheap compared to the internals. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

The gearbox is nearly finished, I went up to Steven's this morning to have a look. They have replaced the brake bands, clutches, bushes and bearings as well as all the seals. The torque converter was cut open and cleaned out then rewelded, I have put a photo of the machine that welds them together- made in the USA. They managed to save the casing threads so that's one worry out of the way, should get it back next week.

Update.
The gearbox and torque converter was delivered yesterday afternoon and today refitted to the engine. Got to do some work on the engine bay then with a bit of luck will be lifted in at the end of next week.

That looks spotless, Nigel. Great work! How long will it stay like that, I wonder?

Thanks, I'll give one trip down to southern Spain and back before it looks a mess again, although there should be lot less leaks now.
