You can also buy a small kit for a power drill to get in to the hard to reach places. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5X-Polishing ... 2749.l2649
The buffing wheels are these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPIRAL-STITC ... 2749.l2649
You will need an adapter for the bench grinder that the buffing wheels screw on to which is. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/245072-Silve ... ctupt=true
Hope this helps.

On your other subject - the air cleaner tilt - if you set the cleaner level, how far is its centerline from the centerline of the carburetor aluminum air horn into which it fits?

That is difficult to measure without taking the bracket off so you can get the filter level and that means taking the head bolts off again. On your other subject - the air cleaner tilt - if you set the cleaner level, how far is its centerline from the centerline of the carburetor aluminum air horn into which it fits?
But if you measure the distance from the top of the cam cover to the bottom outside edge of the air filter housing. On the carb side it is about 10 cm and on the exhaust side about 15cm. I have been able to drop mine a little between 10 and 12mm difference, so the slope is not as pronounced now and I do not think it is hitting the underside of the bonnet insulation anymore. But that might be because I have a great big dent in the insulation from when it was hitting.

Re: Air Cleaner Intake Hose / Seal / Clamp
A straight board across from top of fender to top of fender shows the car sitting about a half inch low from level on the left side of the car.
The first photo is with a spirit level sitting on top of the air cleaner canister - near dead level. The second photo is with the level across the tops of the cam covers - low on the left side. There is a 1/8" gap between the top of the cam cover and the bottom of the air cleaner canister on the right side, 5/16" on the left side.
If I were to jack the car up to level, I believe the engine would now be level also but the air cleaner would be out of level. It's easier to see an out-of-level air cleaner than an engine so I'm leaving well enough alone.
Sorry, I think I somehow changed forums for this subject.

Try and keep up Alan we are running two simultaneous topics here for the same subject.lol.Sorry, I think I somehow changed forums for this subject.
I agree the air filter housing is the thing your eyes are draw to when you open the bonnet as you can see that in line with the bulkhead.
My problem with these measurements is that I cannot trust that my wings are the same level. My car had a new front wing welded on by a blind monkey and his idiot helper who did not fix the wing in place and then try the bonnet for fit before welding it in place, so I have a larger gap between the top and the wing on the left side where the new wing was fitted than the right side where the original wing is. Only an 1/8 of an inch but it bugs me and there is nothing I can do about it.
I think like you if you can get the air cleaner housing sat paralel in relation to the bulkhead level it does not matter where all the other components sit in relation to it.
