Refitting the chrome
Re: Refitting the chrome
Great info for sure....I have the kit and that is a problem....knowing where all the bits go.
SNG knows or they would not have put it in the bag. Instructions would be nice.

Re: Refitting the chrome
Joe ~ once you have sorted the kit into it's component parts what I have posted will make a lot more sense. If you don't recognise where something goes shoot a pic & we will help you.

Re: Refitting the chrome
A quick question for clarification having thought about the re-spray preparation. The chrome trim fitting kit from Barratt's SBS1271FK will it include the 6 pop rivets (3 either side) holding the short chrome trim between the bonnet/hood and windscreen pillar normally held on by 3 self tapping screws either side. Only if the pop rivets replace the screws, I need to drill some slightly larger holes to accommodate them before the the re-spray takes place.
Many thanks.

Re: Refitting the chrome
Hi Dave ~ sorry I missed this as I considered them part of the waist mouldings. Yes the kit includes 6 rivet clips to hold the 2 short scuttle chrome strips. I suggest you buy the kit & a few extra rivet clips while you are about it. They are damn useful & there is always a chance of damaging the odd clip. Barratts does give you a few extras in the kit. (Pop rivets are great but not perfect. Sometimes the shank breaks before the rivet is tight or does not break where intended leaving you with a spike sticking out of the rivet that needs trimming)
My scuttle chrome mouldings were not held on by self tapping screws. They had the same spring steel clip as the doors.

Re: Refitting the chrome
Thanks for confirmation Glyn, I didn't want to start drilling holes that were not required. My side scuttle trims did have the same metal clips as on the doors but were held in place by small self tapping screws three either side that were a a real swine to remove. I assume they were their to prevent making the larger square holes which could weaken the scuttle panel or it was easier to produce at the time, just hold the trim with self tappers.
Thanks for the tip to order extra pop rivets much appreciated.

Re: Refitting the chrome
Hi guys,
Just started putting back some chrome and found this tread pretty helpful. Wonder if anyone can help. I have three holes on either side of the trunk lid, pictures attached. Anyone can figure out what they are for?
