Sods Law

Post by johngosnell »

A disaster'us day today, I purchased some dark blue Mouquet to re cover the under dash and every thing could go wrong it did. Trying to get out o the car my wheelchair moved away and left me half on the floor and half against my chair jammed against the car, I found that I had chipped the paint on the sill because of the fall so I touched up the damage and unbeknown to me I had dripped paint on my jumper which did not endear me to my significant half .The last straw was the masking tape I had used on the vynal knee roll so as to stop any glue getting on while fitting the Mouquet. When I removed the masking tape it had lifted some of the colour on the vynal. So all in all a bad day :)

Very sorry to hear that :(

They say these things come in 3's so hopefully your misfortune is over.

BTW ~ were you able to confirm that Moquette was used on the parcel shelf of early build cars prior to the move to carpeting on later cars?

People at our club say that 1964 built cars like yours & Jose's were all over the place with parts & materials used. (We were still importing at that time prior to CKD build here)

Really sorry to hear that, John. I've had similar days myself and they're not fun. I should go to bed now, if I were you. Nevertheless, all those things add to the patina (though not sure about the patina of your jumper). :)

with regard to moquete, the material I removed was definitely a soft fine material like moquette but the colour of the material ( black ) suggests that it has been replaced before as it was the wrong colour , it should have been dark blue like the interior.

Thanks for that. From what I can ascertain carpet seems standard from very late 64 or early 65. Before that even the Hardura felt varies from red to black.
