Getting all the rivets, clamps, fasteners together for the chrome. Ordered most from SNG. However, they do not carry the parts annotated with the arrow in the below photo including the rubber buffer 2179. Anyone know where I can get these? I may have the screws in a bag somewhere. Have to look.

The fun part will be reattaching everything. Any suggestions out there???????????????????????

DD/Joe ~ The rubber wiper stripping 2179 was available as a single extrusion that required to be cut to length from Barratts a mere 6 months or so ago & supplied to me. (rubber wiper outside on window ~ whisker strip with clips inside) Their new website is a disaster again as it is every time they change it. Mr Barratt had his web developer phone me when I pointed out that the site does not list things I know they have in stock the previous time they changed. The same applies now.

Get in touch with them and make someone check their actual stock. I'll bet they still have it (maybe under another number).

Regarding the attachment self tappers. I had rusted original samples. I had no trouble getting matching items in Stainless Steel from a local supplier. The same goes for all the wood attachment screws under the rubbers in the doorjams. I got all in SS locally without issue.

Once you have the strips rechromed & need to fit the rubber wiper I will give you some tips to stop shrinkage once pulled in & fitted. Also use Tectyl or similar everywhere that a rivet, self tapper or whatever damages the paint to prevent rusting.

Look after strips 32, 33, 35 & 36. that the rubber wiper pulls into. They are becoming as rare as rocking horse dung in good condition. The Mk2 part is no substitute.

I don't but will see if I can find an offcut over the weekend & take a pic. My restorer has just brought down the leftovers from Johannesburg. Don't know if we saved a piece.

In that same photo above, I cannot find BD.26706/4 Retainer/Rivet Quantity: 8.

I found BD26706/1 and /2, but no /4. Searching everywhere with no success.

No joy finding off-cut of rubber wiper strip for shoulder beading yet. Will keep looking.

BD.26706/4 are just pop rivets. Make sure you have a selection in different sizes. BTW Jaguar also used self tappers in some locations where pop rivets are shown in the parts manual & vice versa. I just did as my original car was (it had never been apart) or where things tallied with my donor cars.

All my pictures just cut off what we want to see because they were taken to show something else.
