I moved the sandwich mount post under suspensions, so you can delete the last six or so posts on page 9 of this thread only and then you can post links to the others.
Thanks

Well, I am ready....just waiting for my painter to finish. Painting has started. Motor, transmission, and overdrive mounts are finished. Front and rear suspension mounts are all fitted and ready to be installed. All parts are on hand. Only a seal in the overdrive is needed to be replaced and that should be done next week. Come On Man....let's go.

Looking excellent DD. Love the colour. Looks close to Aston Martin Racing Green metallic. At least in this light.

Please keep the pictures coming! You are making great progress. I'm rather partial to green Jags LOL!

Just finished drying my car after a wash & rinsed the Chamois. They look so great when they are gleaming. :D

Have christened mine "Moneypenny". Some Scandinavian fellow has already taken "Miss Moneypit"

Can't beat the look of a new coat of paint. Now you have to try an assemble it all without scratching it. I found this was impossible no matter how hard you tried. There are always the last words in your head just before it happens which go some thing like " I MUST BE EXTRA CAREFUL DOING THIS IN CASE I SCRATCH THE PAINT WORK" followed by "BUGGER YOU TWAT!!!!!!!".
Looks really good Joe.

You are so right Rob. My guy had protective film taped all over the place & left buffing the clearcoat to very last. The woodwork is also so easy to damage. Fit last! Fitting badge work with friction bushes etc he would tape the surrounding area. Tectyl on every clip & rivet that holds body chrome & every interference fit area like gutter chrome. You can't help doing some minor paint damage in these unseen areas & that's where the rust starts.

I still believe doing & controlling your own restoration is the only way. Buying "so called" restored cars is a crap shoot. So much bodge work takes place in the name of restoration that you simply can't see or detect. At least doing it yourself you know what you have.

I was looking at a "restored" E Type the other day. Somebody commented "why does the bonnet not fit properly". Well there was nothing wrong with the bonnet. The new sills had been welded in incorrectly.

mine is unrestored because it needs no restoration, it is intact except for a replacement exhaust system and mods that I have done myself like installing XJ-6 electric mirrors, stereo system, a top mount stop lamp and emergency Flasher kit. No rust anywhere, zero, nada. It was resprayed in 1984 and the paint is still like new. Sure it leaks like hell everywhere but that is part of its originality.

Almost forgot the most important mod:

I had the lower tail lamp Lenses reproduced in Amber and raised the driving and Stop lights to where the Turn Signals were located originally. The Turn Signals are now at the Lower step of the tail lights. The car looks a lot more elegant too.
