Headlamp label

Assuming that I can source a new one, how easy is it to replace? Mine fell apart (and the missing 'quarter' is nowhere to be seen!) so I will have to start again. Is it as simple as pulling off the switch and then inserting a new label? Given that it has left no mark on the wood veneer, might I assu...

Re: Name That Part - 1965 Jaguar 3.8 S-Type

Ugh! I had wondered what isn't quite right about my doors and now, of course, I can see that at some stage somebody obviously replaced the door cards with new ones which are missing that roll. Roughly how much would new BAS ones cost with the correct roll? This 'mistake' is all I can see now in an i...

Re: Car cover (custom fit)

I went for that too — and it's very good indeed.

Thanks for all the advice.

Re: Under bonnet insulation

In the end I went for the SNG Baratt Mark 2 'Insul Kit' and it has worked very well. It doesn't look remotely original but it does the job well (insulating!) and looks smart.

Thank you for all of the advice.

Re: Rear Bumper over rider.

This post is interesting as, for some time, I have been concerned that my front bumper over riders are incorrect. I have never seen them on another S-type. Perhaps they are so wrong that they come from a completely different make of car, though somebody recently told me that the 420 had these "...

Weather strips - outer doors

I have had some new weather strips installed as the old ones were cracked and had bits missing from them.

The new ones fall quite short of the full length (they stop where the red lines are). Is this correct? Does anyone have a close-up photo of theirs, please?

Re: Under bonnet insulation

Sounds like I’ve got a lot of checking to do! Probably most locations are beyond my knowledge/capabilities.... It’s a noisy S-type, though, so I do need to give this a really good go. I’m onto the Barratts order, too, although there’s quite a long lead-time on that ‘insul’ kit.

Re: Under bonnet insulation

That does sound interesting, Nigel. And you say the next couple of days. Sounds good.

My main aim is to make the engine more S Type and less noisy/E Type. It shouldn't be as audible in the cabin as it is currently. It's my second S and the first purred: this barks.

Re: Under bonnet insulation

Thanks Glyn — this is all very useful.

What are the foil insulation pads available on the same website page?

Re: Under bonnet insulation

Not too picky, to be honest, but I'd like to start by actually finding the kit to order! (The boot is perhaps another issue?)

Thanks for your help.
