Re: Headlamp label

I think Jaguar is consistent. There is a little detent sprung ball on the lightswitch shaft. You just take an allen key or whatever & stick it through the hole in the lever ~ depress the ball & pull off the lever. Having done that, what's the next step? Do you have to approach it from behin...

Re: Rear Bumper over rider.

Having today got the bumpers out, I discover they are not the overriders I need for an S type. I'm not sure that they are 420 bumpers — not really sure what they are! Anyone any tips where I might get hold of some correct front bumper overriders for the S-type and swap the XJ6 ones currently install...

Re: Rear Bumper over rider.

If your other bumper does not have the dip it might be from a 420 and looking at pictures the front overriders do look the same as the S Type which is good. The rear 420 and S type bumpers are identical as are the overriders. Now the bad part. Inside the overrider is a bracket welded to the chrome ...

Re: Bonnet fit (panel gap)

There are two things that might cause this gap and I know as I have the same thing on one side. First in my case the previous owner paid a bunch of Monkeys to weld on a new front wing on to the car which they did without lining up the gap by putting the bonnet on before starting the welding. No cha...

Bonnet fit (panel gap)

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this horrid gap at the top of the bonnet? Or does anyone know of someone in the South-West Uk who might do that sort of [tricky] work?

Re: Name That Part - 1965 Jaguar 3.8 S-Type

I would not buy a new door card....just take it to an upholstery shop and have them remove the wood, peel down the material, and add a role. Should not be a big deal. Good luck, Trouble is — it's finding a good upholstery shop in South-West UK who is willing to have a go (and do it well!). Any sugg...

Re: Rear Bumper over rider.

OK — thank you — so they're obviously XJ Series 1. How annoying. I've got some other ones buried deep in the shed which came with the car (except those bumpers are clearly not actually from my car as there's no radiator-grill dip in the front one!) which I will dig out after winter when all the gard...

Re: Headlamp label

Fantastic — thank you very much. I hope to receive a new one and to have installed it by the end of the weekend!
