It’s definitely the gear-box. On cold start, when the oil is thick, it’s not there for the first two or three minutes.
It’s annoying — but presumably ‘acceptable’ — and I guess I’ll just have to live with it for the time being!
Thank you for all of the advice.

John If you have incorrect standing heights you have incorrect steering and suspension angles, and if you add rack and pinion steering it gets worse. This is not to imply steering conversions are no good but merely to suggest extra care on suspension / body heights. I have R&P steering and no d...

Re: Suspension misalignment
Thank you for all of the help and advice. It matters to me so I shall investigate the possibility of wrong springs and/or packing rings.
Here's the pre-new-springs pic — should have left well alone!

Ticking/tapping sound
A new ticking/tapping sound has emerged in the engine. It disappears while the clutch is depressed, when the engine sounds exactly right again, but of course it is therefore audible whilst driving. Its may be getting louder too. I can't work out where it is coming from and therefore what it is. Any ...

Re: Suspension misalignment
Just thought that I would add a picture of my baby, not long after she had new springs and poly bushes, you will see that she is quite high on the front , to me the back still looks a bit low DSC00223 (1).JPG Screen Shot 2020-09-13 at 20.45.37.png john I have posted about this before but, like John...

Re: Petrol leak
Thank you very much. This is, however, beyond my limited ability so I shall have to have the car transported to someone who can sort it. Driving it there is several risks too far!

Petrol leak
A fine but powerful spray of petrol is coming out of the top (I think) of R. The petrol is running out even faster than usual!
Any ideas? Rather dangerous, I would have thought.
