Re: Fuel tank filter

Yes, the hole is in the end for the pickup tube. I don't remember where I got it but I had a piece lying around that I used to use on the bottom of my pool sump pump to keep stuff from clogging the pump (never throw anything away). If you Google fine brass mesh you'll get several to choose from like...

Re: Fuel tank filter

I'm with you, John. $80 is way too much. When I pulled mine out, I remembered that I repaired it many, many years ago with brass patches and screen. This time I accidently poked another hole in the brass screen while cleaning it, so I soldered another piece of screen over the hole. Ugly but servicea...

Re: Connecting a fuel pressure gauge on a 1964 3.8S

Excellent suggestions John and Jerry. I must admit that the car sat for long periods between use, even after I removed both tanks and cleaned everything in the system. Not looking forward to dealing with all that gas again but maybe that's what I have to do. I guess I figured if the car was OK on ch...

Re: Connecting a fuel pressure gauge on a 1964 3.8S

John, Thanks for the comments. Instead of pumping the fuel from the pump into a large jug and estimating the pressure, why not connect the rubber hose from my fuel pressure gauge to the banjo at each pump and measure the pressure directly? It would be nice to verify pressures if nothing else to elim...

Connecting a fuel pressure gauge on a 1964 3.8S

I want to find out what fuel pressure is being delivered to my carbs because the car will not idle unless I keep the revs up. It starts fine on choke but when that clicks off, it wants to die. I have rebuilt the carbs several times and set them up as specified to no avail. Keeping in mind that I wan...

Re: Locked brakes

John, thanks for your comments. Having rebuilt the brake system quite a few years ago, I had to go back to the manual to refresh my memory on how things work. There are only the two ports on the master cylinder - from the reservoir and to the system with a seal on the end of a valve to prevent fluid...

Re: Locked brakes

For some reason last night, I started to think about the locked brakes problem on the S Type and thought maybe I would look into a new servo as I remembered thinking that was a possible solution. I Googled Jaguar 3.8S brake servo and one of the search results was something titled "Locked Brakes...
