Re: 50th Historic Vehicle Gathering Powderham Castle
Don't know the numbers as I am not the one organising it but not as many as I would have hoped. Which hotel are you staying in as I will be travelling in from Torquay along the coastal road through Teignmouth and Dawlish.

Re: 50th Historic Vehicle Gathering Powderham Castle
Which day are you coming down, Sat, Sun or did you say you were coming down for both? I don't think the idea of setting up a stand is going ahead. It was being organised by a friend in Dorset but it is a case of paying for a club stand in advance anticipating how many cars you think will turn out. W...

Re: brake servo assistance
Possibly not as hard as a starter but similar problems of no space to work in and once you have your hands in the hole with a spanner you cannot see past your wrist to see where the head of the bolt is that the spanner is supposed to be turning. A lot of feel work and one handed especially with the ...

Re: brake servo assistance
I would say it was the diaphragm in the brake servo that has got a hole in which allows the brake fluid to cross over to the dry side and is then sucked by the vacuum into the inlet manifold where it is sent to the cylinder and burnt as white smoke through the exhaust. I had the same thing on my MGB...

Re: 1964 3.8s P1B 75089 DN
Hi and thanks for posting. CKD cars were as you say assembled in South Africa but we have little knowledge from here in the UK. Glyn Ruck was the man who possibly could have helped as he lived in Cape Town and his S Type was a CKD car but sadly Glyn is missing in action and we have not heard from hi...

Re: Lights escutcheon
The Lights escutcheon is held in place by the chrome hollow nut behind the toggle switch. To remove the Lights escutcheon you have to remove the whole switch from the dash. First remove the toggle switch which is held in place by a spring clip/ There is a hole in the side of the toggle switch which ...

Re: Head bolts
Nice one Jerry. I find it is always the small things that catch you out and how many times is it something you have not even been working on? I once changed the HT leads then the car would not start. So you checked and double checked everything, even put the old HT leads back on only to find there w...

Re: Head bolts
The original bracket is as yours with just a brace between the two to keep it as one piece.
The painted air filter housing makes the engine bay brighter and more interesting rather than the Hammarite grey which tended to blend in with the top of the engine.

Re: Power Steering mystery
You do not say where you are as I have a spare reservoir. I am in the UK. The actual linkages for the steering are the same except for the steering arms which on the Adwest were beefed up with a thicker profile. This was to protect the arms from bending if you parked against a kerb and then turned t...
