Re: Hard to obtain spares

Hi guys, thank you for your prompt responses. I apologise for not responding sooner, but life got in the way! I have overcome my immediate problem with the heating controls vacuum tank; I found a length of suitable width metal strip, fabricated a new "leg" assembly, and pop riveted it to t...

Hard to obtain spares

Hi folks, English " lockdown" means I'm getting on with a few jobs on my 1965 3.8 auto S type. During a delay in getting my Brake servo shield repaired, I'm looking at other problem areas, and I would appreciate some assistance with obtaining replacements for hard to get components. 1) The...

Re: New 4 piston calipers

Hi Norman, Thank you for your comprehensive reply. Judicious use of a "Dremmel" type tool, and plenty of " offering up and checking" means I've managed to successfully adjust the original stone guards, and still retain the original mounting point for the brake flexible. The "...

Re: Correct reverse light / cut off switch?

Just a thought, but I was under the impression the description everyone is referring to as the "reverse light switch and ignition cut-off" isn't quite right. My understanding is that the steering column mounted switch does not cut-off the ignition, it inhibits the starter motor solenoid, u...

Re: Contents of the tool box

Ah I begin to understand! Two of the three "slots" were originally intended to house 4 spanners, and in the "S" type application, the third " slot" is redundant. Thanks for your explanation, I was previously unaware of the difference.

Contents of the tool box

Hi Folks,

Would someone please enlighten me as to the correct spanners for the tool box. It would appear I'm missing a large spanner from the R.H. most slot, and have 2 spanners in the L.H. most "indentation".

New 4 piston calipers

Hi All, I have taken the plunge and purchased new 4 piston front brake calipers, supplied by Zeus in the U.K. These give a greater pad area, plus greater pad pressure, to help modernise the braking performance. I was a bit peeved to subsequently find I had to make alterations to the Stone guards, bu...

Re: Vacuum pipe route

Hi Glyn, Thank you for your prompt reply, and especially the photo. Judging by your photo, ( wow, how many of our cars are still that immaculate) my hoses were roughly in the correct position, but trapped by the lower edge of the shield. 575751ED-9547-438C-9155-76925F7E1E14.jpeg This is my servo shi...
