This is my second XJ, purchased from new after trading in a seven years old model. The photo is just after I had it detailed locally and I think it looks better than when I first got the car.
This is really the best car I have ever owned, after owning BMW 5 series over many years; it has every imaginable toy one could want - but I still love my S type!
The only gripe I have is the (now) well-known Euro6 problem of oil dilution. This occurs when a journey is curtailed during the DPF burn-off - it dumps the unspent diesel into the sump, i.e. during most short journeys. Thus the oil level shows over-filled and means at least two oil changes per year.
They call this progress, but it means I’ll never have a diesel engined car again when this superb car goes.
