my car has PAS and the stabilizers. There are no conflicts other than the power steering hose you can see in the picture smack in front of the lower nut of the stabilizer. When I replaced the rubber buffers I had to use three hands. I can't remember if the buffer's part number was superceeded.
I have the original paper Service Manual that came with the car when it was first sold. Whether it is an early version I don't know. I thought all S type are the same throughout their production other than any supercessions or deletes..
Cass is it possible someone eliminated them? See if you have any trace of a welded bracket at the crossmember. It would be obvious. The block will have two threaded "ears" in the casting where the banjo bolts to.
the only other thing I can think of is that my car is a 9:1 compression 3.8 liter and it required the stabilizers? No clue and the manual does not say. The illustration I posted is from the Engine Removal Section of the manual, a very detailed step by step How To.
