I am using a PerTronix Ignitor LU-166AP12 Lucas 6 cyl 12 Volt Positive Ground/Earth system with their 40,000 volt 3 ohm Flamethrower coil as suggested and all is running beautifully.

Dennis I think the reference to a 3 ohm coil not being suitable for an S Type is based on it having its normal points system distributor. More ohms creates a larger spark which an electronic ignition system can handle where as old fashion points might start to burn out with the higher power.

All coils can work Pos or Neg. The Coil is marked by the terminals with a + or - and as long as you wire it up correctly so if you are running Neg earth the - signed terminal goes to earth then you will not have any problem. Make sure you check and double check before turning the ignition on as running the coil the wrong way through an electronic ignition system with blow the modual.

Coil for Electronix Electronic Ignition ?

Hi All,
Could anyone help ? I am fitting a Petronix Ignition Kit for Lucas 22D6 Positive earth distributor, I have been recommended to buy a higher than 3 ohm resistance ignition coil, - that currently fitted being approx 2 ohm. SNG recommended a Lucas sports ignition coil DLB 105.
My queries are - what resistance is this and does it work with a positive earth car.
All internet reference to DLB 105 suggest it is not compatible with a 1968 S Type Jaguar and make no references to it being either suitable for negative or positive earth cars.
Can all ignition coils be used for either negative or positive earth cars, are the connections to the coil the same ?
Any help would be gratefully received
Dennis
