As a tardy reply, yes that is what I was thinking. Although you wouldn't have the junk-n-stuff falling off as you go like I would. Your XJ6 is alarmingly similar to mine--- hmmm if I could get hold of a white Morris minor......(I wouldn't know what to do with it)..... Recently I was approached by my next nearest neighbor who asked if "I needed another one of those."), meaning the 94 xj6 I was driving at the time. I went and had a look. It's an 87 that has been in a barn (unknown to me, and 1/4 mile from my house) for just past 20 years. He doesn't want much for it so I imagine it will cat-like follow me home soon. Maybe I can part it out or use it for clinical studies--- or devil take me- someone might buy it to rehab! Talk about unthinkable!

Terminology clarification here. In the USA a tow bar is fitted to the front of a car to flat tow it. That tow bar, usually a triangular frame device, is then connected to a hitch on the towing car. Here's a newer Jaguar towing a Morris.

Maybe just a towbar and flat tow it. Green does get A Lot of attention here in the armpit of America, so I suspect that dragging a derelict around may tend to diminish the cool of it. I am imagining it though... dust blowing, chunks of rust, nuts and bolts falling off....

If you think that way Jerry you will have to fit a tow bar to Old Green and then two a trailer around with Silver on it so you always have spares of everything to hand. lol.

hey all,
Not really unrelated to these two- As some may know, I have been trying to use old green more since it has become less drippy and environmentally unfriendly. I had intended to drive it to work today but found a "power but no crank" condition. I concluded it must be angry with me for not using it more often so I left it for this evening. I found that the starter solenoid had gone bad (it was already an aftermarket unit from I-dont-know-when) and grabbed the original one off of old silver (#70247), checked it for good-ness, installed it into green and he is seemingly happy again. Cats just need attention sometimes. I wish I had another spare to keep with me....

Hi all, 6 months later I have finally taken possession the the second of these 2 cars. I got the silver one home not long after this post but the title for this red one is proving to be very enigmatic. It has one, but as may have been not unusual back then the number on the title in the vin box is, in fact the engine number. The folks at the Indiana BMV dont like that and are putting the seller through his paces to get the thing sent.

2 more unearthed.

by jerry_hoback » Mon Oct 04, 2021 12:30 am

Last week my wife was trolling an online public sale forum and found a cryptic, deeply hidden listing for 2 1964 S-types. We arranged to see them today and as might be expected, we ended up buying. One is a soild body lacking left side windows, motor and trans. Its trunk appeared to be full of parts which I assume were removed with the engine. Not sure what all I may do with that car. The other is red on red 3.4 4 speed, right hand drive with overdrive. It has an Alabama plate on it and it was titled in Georgia. It is in about the same condition as my green one was when I got it some 7 years ago. That on is currently road worthy and I have been using it fairly regularly. I have my vision. the body number of the red one is 1B1644DN. Ill be researching and such like.....
