Thanks. I will check that. I may well have to buy a new one but I like to fix the originals if I can. My car doesn't currently have one and this one came with a spare transmission that I bought for the speedo gear housing that I need. So if I can get it to work, it's a bonus.

Just make sure that the squares that the main cable & the short cable fit into are not badly worn. If they are repair is not worth the trouble.

I found a chap who has figured out a way of repairing them. He gives quite detailed instructions so I will give it a try once I get the transmission mount job out of the way.

Might be cheaper in the long run to buy a new one from SNG.

Having determined that my 1965 S-type has a BW model 8 transmission i am now working on getting the speedo to work. I have a used angle drive - which came with a transmission attached. Can anyone tell me what the small screw in the side of it is for? It doesn't appear to do anything. See picture. [attachment=0]20210609_154222.jpg[/attachment] Also the rod inside the drive is broken and I am wondering if anyone has any advice to offer on repairing it.
