So sorry to hear this Scott. But, on the plus side, most trips in these cars are memorable (albeit not always for the right reasons - ask Nigel). You will have some great times and meet a lot of new friends and admirers. It'll be good for your self-esteem.

Hope you all have a whale of a time with it. Please do post pix of your car at shows, meets and on trips.

To share with the kids

Hi Gang,

In December of last year it was decided that we were going to get a fun car. My kids, a 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son, and I were trying to agree on what to get. Was much more difficult to find a car that we all agreed on than I ever expected. Daughter wanted something that was classy and not flashy. Son wanted something muscular that made a good noise. Over the months we would see one car that one liked and not the other. Then one day we were walking downtown and a gold Jaguar MK2 was parked in a hotel valet lot. Both kids loved it and I knew what I needed to do.

I started looking for an S-Type. They didn't notice the difference and I preferred the suspension. Looked at a few but not really what I wanted. Then the one I have came up for auction. It had been for sale a year earlier and I missed out. This time I was able to buy it.

It is a little scruffy and over the next while my kids and I are going to refresh it. Want to build up experiences with them. We have had old cars and motorcycles before but this one will be different. Will bring the leather back to life, get the wood to glow, update the ignition, negative ground, and alternator, seat belts, rebuild the brakes, carburetors, and suspension. In other words we will go through the interior, mechanical, and electrical. Want them to know they can do it all if they want.

Want to share experiences and leave them memories. Have been told do not have a lot of time left so will be trying to pack a lot in over a short period of time.

Will be updating our progress as we go.

Scott
