Good news Joe. Small things can cause painful delays. :)

That is great Joe. They have not come back to me yet so I assume they have not got them back in stock yet.

Rob,

Found the rear door check strap. A few years ago, my dipstick got stuck in the engine. It was damaged beyond repair when we finally got it out. I found a guy named Jack White in VA. He has a few S-Types and other Jags as spares. I got a dip stick from him. I remembered his help and contacted him for the check strap and he delivered. He runs Jagnut Jaguar Spares (540.743-4037). No internet, no emails, just telephone.

Thanks for your help Rob....it is appreciated.

Rob.....thanks so much. I need rear one and can order it from their website when in stock. When in stock, have them save one for me.
Thanks again,
Joe Hreha

Joe,
Spoken to Martin Robeys they still have none in stock to be able to look at one to see if it has the rubber bung on it. They do not make this part so they are going to contact the manufacturer for me and then phone me back. As soon as I hear from them I will let you know.

Yes ~ I tried Rob Burston at one time but at a distance from SA over e mail ~ quite impossible. I think Orlando has also used Potteries for the odd bit. They are small compared with Burston.

Let's hope Robey's gets stock soon! Chasing parts for these cars can eat up an inordinate amount of time.

Thanks Glyn I have heard of Potteries before but not used them. I have a couple of contacts for second hand parts but they are not the brightest people in the world and are so hard to get hold of. Rob Burston is the best in Taunton, but he has his own time scales which are not of the normal world and in the end you have to drive to him (about 60 miles each way) to pick up the parts. But he does have nearly everything you want. Last time I was at his yard he had 50 plus Jaguars that he was breaking and at least five S Types and possibly the same number of 420s. Numerous Mk2s and even obscure cars such as Mk7s, 8s, and 9s plus the odd MkX. You are not allowed to take parts off the cars yourself you have to phone ahead to make sure he has it, he then removes it for you and you collect it on arrival. Problem is he does not answer his phone nor reply to text messages or emails. So frustrating.
