Thanks so much.....slowing down now. Three litters of French Bulldogs over the past two days. We will be very busy. For me, Miss Kitty will be on hold until the end of March.

Interesting! It's one thing I've never seen in a rubber kit. No rubber in the part.

Regards help/guidance it's matter of kindred spirits with the same goal in mind. I'm just doing the finishing bits on my restoration & you are well on your way to completion. I'm probably as enthusiastic as you are about seeing your car come together. I really enjoy watching your progress & will help in any way my old brain permits. I've battled my way though sourcing bits from the southern tip of Africa to do things properly & accurately. It can be a challenge. Bumped my head a number of times. Your woodwork is stunning BTW.

Yes you need 4 Joe. One for each door's winding window. (to fit in each doors external chrome waist trim 32,33,35,36.)

You will also need 4 internal "Whisker" strips (Door Glass Waist Seal internal for S Type) that are held to the inside of the chrome window frames by clips & the winding windows buff against on the horizontal inside of the door.

I bought 4 X BD20010/1 and cut to length because they are not finished length anyway.

or you can buy 2 X BD20010/1 & 2 X BD20010/2 ~ same stuff just different lengths.

Got it on the cap.....have to check to see what I have.

The parts manual says I need two 2179 pieces. I ordered two. Should I get four?

Thanks,

Joe ~ I don't know how Barratts is selling the stuff but you will need 4 pieces. One for each door winding window. When they supplied me it was in one continuous piece off of a bulk roll. Just make sure that they send you sufficient to do all 4 winding windows.

There are small errors in the parts manual. Another for the S Type is the thermostat. The thermostat P/N in the parts manual is wrong. The picture is correct but the P/N wrong. The S Type needs a shrouded thermostat to cool properly.

See from post #7 here to save me repeating.

Basically you need this thermostat. P/N C3731/1

Joe ~ more research,

I'm told on good authority that Part Number BD46440/1 JAGUAR DAIMLER OUTER DOOR GLASS WINDOW SEAL FITS the list below (It looks as if it will do the job ~ It's almost identical to 2179)

420 Saloon
Daimler 2.5 V8 / V8 250
Daimler Hearse
Daimler Limousine
Daimler Sovereign
Mk X / Mk 10 3.8
Mk X / Mk 10 4.2, 420G
S-Type 3.4, 3.8
XJ12 S3
XJ6 S2 / Daimler Sovereign S2
XJ6 S3
XJS

David Manners also has stock of BD46440/1

And guess what ~ so does SNG Barratt. They have lost the cross-read/reference on their new website.

Argh! They supplied mine. I suppose they wont say who their supplier was?

None of the usual suspects like Robey or Manners have.

This from John Gordon Jaguar might work but you would need to see a piece of it.

I would fire an inquiry to Bains

https://coh-baines.co.uk/

I'll keep looking. Woolies have a product but it does not have the correct tongue profile so you would have to glue it in place.
